In Nursery, our aim is to provide a safe and nurturing environment in which children learn and develop through play based experiences. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage framework (EYFS) which supports children aged Birth to 5. Children are encouraged to build positive attachments and relationships, develop their communication and language skills and feel confident in their ability to manage their own care needs with growing independence. Children will participate in an array of activities supporting both their Prime and Specific areas of development through the topics below:
For the Summer term, our focus will up upon two key themes;
Summer 1- 'Down at the bottom of the Garden'- Its time to grow.
Planting life cycle
* Naming & describing minibeasts
* My garden
* Planting fruit / vegetables
Summer 2- 'Oh the places you'll go' - Adventure Time - Pirates
*Under the Sea
*Moving on
We have two core texts linked to early writing skills and mark making experiences:
Annabelle and Flower by Anuska Allepuz & Em Lynas
Pirates love underpants by Ben Cort & Claire Freedman

Diary Dates: We plan to take all Nursery children to Billy Bob's Ice Cream Parlour on Monday 13th July. (A letter will be sent home in the next few days with further details of this. )
Monday 6th July (morning): Early Years and Key Stage 1 Sports Day.
Transition to Reception - An important focus for Nursery this term is to prepare children who are moving forward to Reception in September. Our goal is to ensure that the transition to Reception is smooth and seamless, making sure that children feel confident and prepared for the next exciting part of their early years journey.
Parent's and carers are a part of this process, and are encouraged to support their child by having frequent discussions about going to school. Developing independence skills is essential as children will be expected use the toilet and wash their hands independently, use a knife and fork , put on and take off their coats and shoes by themselves.
Useful skills to practice:
-using scissors.
-recognising their own name.
-learning to hold a pencil.
-counting to 10 reliably and recognising numbers in their everyday environment.
