Important information about Year Three
* Book bags and reading books need to be in school everyday.
* Please read with your child as regularly as possible. The more they practice, the more confident and fluent your child will become. We love to read your comments so please write in your child's reading record how they have done with their reading at home. Reading records need to be signed three times before books are changed.
* Our PE day is Tuesday. Please ensure your child has their PE in school. This consists of a plain white t shirt, plain blue shorts and black pumps. Please make sure that each item of clothing in named clearly.
* Please send in a named, water bottle for your child to keep in class. The children in Year Three have access to water throughout the day.
* The school raffle takes place on a Friday. Tickets are 20 pence each or £1 a strip.
* Tuck shop also takes place on a Friday. Items are 50p to £1 each.
Our Class Saint
Our Class Saint is Saint Cuthbert.
St. Cuthbert's Day is celebrated on 20th March.
Home Learning
At this stage in their learning journey, we encourage children to begin taking greater responsibilty for their home learning, supported and guided by parents and carers.
To help your child at home, we ask that they:
- Read at least three times a week with an adult. Regular reading supports fluency and vocabulary development.
- Practise times tables regularly on EdShed. Children were introduced to 2, 5 and 10 times tables in Year 2. In Year 3 children will be developing their 3, 4, and 8 times tables.
- Work on handwriting, either by using the provided sheets or copying out short tasks at home. This helps reinforce correct letter formation and neat presentation.
Throughout the year, children may also be set creative or research based projects to complete at home. These are great opportunities to explore topics in more depth, so please keep an eye out!
