Online Safety
At Our Lady of Victories Catholic Primary School, we understand the importance of safe use of the Internet. During ICT lessons, we remind children of the benefits and drawbacks of technology and screen time, and recommend living a "balanced lifestyle". All children have internet safety session in school and we have a safer internet day each year.
The school uses National online safety and there are several courses for staff and parents on there. Including posters of up to date information about different programmes
and social media. See some below.
If you have concerns please ask Mrs Mitchell who is the designated safeguarding lead for advice.
CEOP are here to help and give you advice, and you can make a report directly to them, if something has happened to your child online which has made either you or your child feel unsafe, scared or worried. This might be from someone they know in real life, or someone they have only ever met online. Click the image below to be taken to the reporting website.
Here is a health guide to screen time and how you can discuss screen time controls at home from The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.

Parental controls is a quick and easy way to help protect your children when they are using the internet. It is NOT a substitute for unsupervised internet access. Simply click on the device you are using and it will show you how to set up parental controls for that device.

Common Sense Media is a website which we have have used during ICT lessons, when we have been discussing age appropriate games and movies. It offers a guide to the content of media, such as games and movies, and highlight why children of a certain age should not be exposed to media rated for adults only.
